Rebekah
B. Brown Rodriguez
was born in Lufkin,
Texas on July 28, 1985. After graduating first in her high school
class of 2003, she went on to obtain her Bachelor of Arts from Stephen
F. Austin State University in 2006, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a
double major in Criminal Justice-Legal Assistance and Spanish. During
her undergraduate career, she was inducted into Sigma Delta Pi
(National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society) and Alpha Phi Sigma
Criminal Justice Honor Society.
After obtaining her undergraduate
degree, Ms. Rodriguez studied and traveled abroad in Madrid, Spain,
and Guanajuato , Mexico before enrolling in law school at South Texas
College of Law in 2008. As a law student , Ms. Rodriguez worked full
time as an Independent Abstractor and Landman in the Haynesville Shale
area and in Eastern Texas and Western Louisiana. During law school
Ms. Rodriguez accomplished five Cali Excellence for the Future Award
for Am-Juring the following courses: Property, Advanced Federal
Immigration Litigation, Texas Pretrial Procedure, Texas Trial and
Appellate Procedure, and Criminal Law. Ms. Rodriguez was a
member/participated on the Editorial Board of the South Texas Law
Review. Ms. Rodriguez graduated Cum Laude in May 2011.
Prior to joining Jones Gill, Ms.
Rodriguez clerked in both an immigration firm and a debt collection
firm, and became experienced in reconciling federal law with state law
on a number of issues. In addition to her duties as a student and
associate a Jones Gill, Ms. Rodriguez also dedicates time as a pro
bono volunteer attorney for Houston Volunteer Lawyer’s Association,
South Texas College of Law Immigration Clinic, and KIND (Kids in Need
of Defense). Ms. Rodriguez was nominated by Texas Access to Justice
for Oustanding Achievement in providing legal services to the
low-income, and has contributed over 2000 pro bono hours in legal
services during and since her law school career.
Ms. Rodriguez is a member of the State
Bar of Texas (Oil, Gas, and Mineral Law and Real Estate Section) and
is admitted to practice before all Texas State Courts. She is also a
member of the Houston Bar Association, Houston Young Lawyers
Association, Hispanic Bar Association of Houston, Phi Delta Phi Honors
Fraternity-Wood Inn, and AILA. |
