Teresa N. Smith was born
in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on October 25, 1962. She received her B.S.
in Business Administration - Marketing from Louisiana State University
in 1986, and her Juris Doctorate from the Law Center at Louisiana
State University in 1989. She was admitted to the Louisiana Bar in
1989 and the Texas Bar in 1993.
Prior to joining Jones Gill, Mrs. Smith
was engaged in private practice in San Antonio, with a primary focus
on energy and real estate law with an emphasis on oil and gas title
opinions. Mrs. Smith has rendered title opinions covering many areas
of Texas, including the Barnett Shale and Eagle Ford regions. Her most
recent work has focused on Original Drilling Title Opinions and
Division Order Opinions covering urban residential and commercial
tracts. She also has over ten years of experience in worker’s
compensation law, personal injury litigation and real estate
transactions.
Mrs. Smith is a
member of the State Bar of Texas (Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Law
and Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law Sections) and the Louisiana
State Bar Association.
